A case of Nevus Sebaceus (Jadassohn) Associated with Syringocystadenoma Papilliferunt

Abstract
The nevus sebaceus (Jadassohn) is an organoid nevus generally noted on the scalp or the face.
Its life cycle includes three stages. An early one in infancy -and childhood often is characte-rized by underdevelopment of hairs and sebaceous glands. A second phase usually begins with puberty and leads to massive development of sebaceous glands, papillomatous epidermal hyper-plasia and maturation of apocrine glands. The third stage is due to complicating ¢¥development of benign or malignant tumors in the original nevus. The most prevalent ones being basal cell epithelioma and syringocystadenoma papilliferum.
Recently there have been reports of nevus sebaceus associated with multiple developmental abnormalities. These reports have delineated a new neurocutaneous syndrome, characterized by nevus sebaceus, mental retardation, convulsive disorders, eye abnormalities and cardiovascular defects. This association has expanded the significance, of nevus sebaceus as a possible indicator of other abnormalities.
A case of nevus sebaceus (Jadassohn) associated with syringocystadenoma papilliferum in 22 year-old female is reported. According to the patient, the initial lesion had been present since birth. on parietal region. Diagnosis was confirmed by its characteristic clinical -and histopatho-logical findings. ¡ÆDespite informing the patient that a malignant neoplasm may develop. in the nevus, he refused excision of the lesions.
